AmBank is pleased to contribute RM350,000 for the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) to fund the MAB Gurney Training Centre (GTC) in playing an active role to empower persons with visual impairment by providing them with services and opportunities for greater participation, involvement and integration into society.

Tan Sri Md Nor bin Md Yusof, Chairman, AmBank Group said, “AmBank is proud to collaborate with the Malaysia Association for the Blind to support initiatives that help people with visual impairments lead fulfilling lives. This partnership bodes well with the government’s call to enhance support for Persons with Disabilities (PWD). It aims to provide both resources and a sense of community, enabling individuals with disabilities to live independently, secure employment and contribute meaningfully to nation building.”

MAB Gurney Training Centre (GTC) is the only certified training centre in Malaysia registered under the Skills Development Department (JPK) and Ministry of Human Resources that offers skill programmes specifically designed for visually impaired individuals. The centre caters to more than 70 trainees, aged 18 and above, with programmes which are tailored to equip them with essential skills for various fields in Office Management, System Computer Operations, wellness and healing remedial treatment, Audio Production, Call Centre and Teaching Staff.

"We are thrilled to have AmBank on board as a partner in this important initiative," said Dato George Thomas, Chief Executive Officer at MAB. "This collaboration will play a crucial role in enhancing the educational and professional prospects of our students, fostering a more inclusive workforce."

This collaboration is one of AmBank’s many ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering social impact, underscoring the Group’s commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainable development.
