Anti-Bribery and Corrupt Practices


Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 (MACC) and Guidelines on Adequate Procedures issued pursuant to MACC Act 2009 have imposed standards and guidance.

AmBank Group’s ABCP Policy is formulated to ensure AmBank Group conducts its business conforming to the highest level of integrity and ethics and all employees comply with the relevant laws and regulations on anti-bribery and corruption.


AmBank Group’s Anti-Corruption Stance


The policy represents our stance of zero tolerance to bribery and corruption and serves to protect the institution from financial and reputational loss as a result of regulatory and/or enforcement, censure and action. AmBank Group forbids any form of Bribery or Corruption, guided by five principles under TRUST.

Key Standards of Conduct


As enshrined in the Bank’s Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics (compliant, responsible, ethical, accurate, trustworthy, equitable), the Bank strictly prohibits any act of bribery and corruption regardless of its form.

The ABCP Policy outlines key standards which covers Giving and Accepting of Gifts and Hospitality, Dealing with Government Officials, and Business Associates Relationship. AmBank Group’s Whistleblower Protection Policy


What is Whistleblower?


A voluntary disclosure of information by employee, shareholder or external party (e.g. contract staff, customer, vendor/ supplier, consultant, etc.) pertaining to improper conduct by a person within AmBank Group

Below are some examples of improper conduct, but not limited to:

  • Dishonest, fraudulent, corrupt or illegal practices, as well as bribery;
  • Manipulation of accounts;
  • Unethical behaviour;
  • Abuse of power;
  • Violation of laws and constitution;
  • Conflict of interest;
  • Violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms, damage to the health and safety of persons or to the environment; or
  • Instances of potential green washing (e.g. making an unsubstantiated claim or impression that is pro environmentally sound/ friendly).

Key Principles


  • Whistleblowing should be promoted and managed in a positive and transparent manner.
  • Whistleblower is protected on the basis that the disclosure is made in good faith.
  • Information provided is safeguarded and not disclosed.
  • Reported improper conduct would be investigated by an appointed party and deliberated by an appropriate Committee for decision making.
